We’re thrilled to announce that TCC Founder and Executive Chair Joanne Smith has been shortlisted for the Innovator of the Year title at this year’s Women in Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) Awards.
This prestigious event celebrates the many talented women helping to build and shape the modern risk and compliance industry by highlighting the work of trailblazing female leaders, mentors and advocates across more than a dozen award categories.
In particular, the GRC Innovator of the Year prize is intended to recognise the female leader who been most instrumental in bringing new approaches, technologies and/or ways of thinking to their field over the past year.
As a forward-thinking entrepreneur with several decades’ experience in both compliance consultancy and tech innovation, Joanne is at the forefront of the RegTech industry and an instrumental force in the roll-out of several industry-first systems.
Joanne said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have been named among this year’s leading female Innovators in Governance, Risk and Compliance.
“The Women in GRC awards showcase and celebrate the women in our arena which is absolutely vital. While, historically, the financial services industry has been a male-dominated sector, it’s great to see our industry changing and becoming more diverse.”
After noticing the untapped potential for an intelligent transcription tool within the compliance industry, Joanne founded a new RegTech company, Recordsure, and introduced her first major innovation – the ground-breaking AI-driven speech and document analytics.
Working in close collaboration with a team of language scientists, AI engineers and data experts, Joanne leveraged her nuanced knowledge of industry practices and regulations to ensure it would prove equally effective for compliance, risk management and customer care tasks.
Since then, she’s been the driving force behind the development of TCC’s suite of RegTech tools – from our smart file review technology known as HPA, to the pioneering culture analytics platform, Hemisphere. Most recently, TCC has developed a new system to help firms seamlessly manage their SMCR compliance processes known as SMCR Pro – all of which illustrate that Joanne’s finger remains firmly on the pulse of the changing demands and requirements of the global financial sector.
Joanne’s drive and passion for breaking boundaries has transformed TCC from a boutique consultancy firm into a leading compliance consultancy providing unique innovative RegTech solutions.
The winners for this year’s Women in GRC Awards are set to be announced at a virtual ceremony on 13th October.
